CANADA SAFARI SUMMER TOUR CAMP 2017: For Students 11 to 17 years of age

Niagara Christian Collegiate (NCC) & Safari Niagara, have teamed up to offer an incredible Safari Summer Tour/Camp experience to students within the ages of eleven (11) to seventeen (17). The summer tour is scheduled to take place from 17th July to 3rd August 2017, in the Toronto & Niagara Region, Canada. The fee for the program is $3,450 CAD (Canadian dollars).

WHO SHOULD ATTEND THE SAFARI SUMMER CAMP IN CANADA?

Secondary & post-secondary school students (both male and female) from 11 to 17 years of age,  who want to fully experience Canadian culture.
Students who want to experience the North American interactive teaching style.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE SUMMER PROGRAM IN CANADA

Three (3) days in Toronto (CN Tower, Blue Jays baseball game, Eaton Centre, Canada’s Wonderland, Toronto Waterfront, etc.).
Local Canadian history trips, shopping, eating out.
Athletic activities including basketball, soccer, swimming, ice skating, biking, rollerblading, hiking, and more.
Tourist attractions (Niagara Falls, Niagara-on-the-Lake).
Prepare and enjoy Canadian food on the BBQ and around the campfire.
Students choose from a variety of elective activities including sports, fine arts, and Canadian adventures (see sample activities theme below).

COST IMPLICATION / FEE DETAILS

The Safari Summer Tour/Camp Fee is $3,450 CAD (Canadian Dollars), i.e. approximately N834,900.00 (Nigerian Naira). This fee covers the following:

Transportation within Canada (Airport pick-up & drop-off, and transportation to all outings).
Air-conditioned residential/accommodation facilities for the duration of the program.
Nutritious and delicious meals (3 meals per day + snack).
Bedding and linens.
Access to laundry facilities.
Health/Medical Insurance (for the program duration).
Personalized instruction.
Three-day excursion to Toronto.
Textbooks and learning resources.
Variety of daily activities in Niagara.

The Tour Fee Excludes:

Flight to / from Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Visa Application/Processing Fee.
Chaperone Charges.

Refund Policy: prior to 1st May 2017, the summer tour/camp fees are refundable less a $200 CAD administrative fee. After 1st May 2017, the tour fees are not refundable.



DAILY PROGRAM SCHEDULE

The program includes three (3) to four (4) hours of instruction at the zoo or in the classroom every weekday.
Each student will receive personal attention to develop confidence, interact with a variety of animals, and to build their knowledge.
Time will be available for participants to access on-site computer labs, wireless internet across campus, and onsite athletic facilities.
Afternoons, evenings, and weekends are filled with a variety of activities. (see sample schedule below).

PLEASE NOTE:

Application Deadline: Deadline for a Nigerian student to apply for the Canada Safari Summer Tour is 31st March 2017.

Payment Deadline: Deadline for a Nigerian student to make payment for the camp fee and other associated fees is 14th April 2017.

* Kindly note that these deadlines are enforced strictly to ensure that a Nigerian student who intends to participate in the summer tour, have enough time to apply and receive their visas from Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) before the program start date. Keep in mind that it could take up to 2-3 months for a visitors visa decision to be made by CIC.



APPLICATION PROCESS

1. Apply (FREE OF CHARGE) for a Spot at the Canada Safari Summer Tour 2017 by simply clicking the APPLY FREE NOW button on this page and completing the online application form.
Alternatively, you can 'download a PDF copy of the Canada Safari Summer 2017 Application Form' and email the completed application form to us (info@PLUMVILLEint.com). Application deadline is 31st March 2017.

2. Wire $3,450 CAD Tour Payment, directly to NCC's bank account in Canada. ($3,450 CAD is approximately N834,900, depending on the Nigerian Naira to Canadian dollar official FX rate on the date of the transaction). Payment deadline is 14th April 2017.
After payment is received by NCC, a confirmation letter and receipt of payment will be provided to the parent/guardian/student by NCC.

3. Pay Visa Fees to Plumville / the Canadian High Commission / VFS. (Total visa fees is between N110,000 to N160,000 depending on the age of the student and subject to the prevailing Nigerian Naira to Canadian dollar official FX rate on the payment date ).
Then, the student is fully confirmed for the 2017 Canada summer tour.

* Flight/Air Ticket cost & chaperone charges, will be communicated to parents/guardians approximately one (1) month to the tour date.



POSSIBLE QUESTIONS ABOUT THE 2017 CANADA SAFARI SUMMER TOUR/CAMP

Is the $3,450 CAD tour fee all-inclusive?

No. The tour fee does not include the cost for visa processing, air/flight ticket to Canada, & chaperone charges.

What is the Naira equivalent of $3,450 CAD?

The Naira equivalent of $3,450 CAD is approximately N834,900.00. Keep in mind that the Naira amount may increase or decrease due to volatility of foreign exchange (FX) rate in Nigeria. The official FX rate used as at the date of this write-up is N242 to C$1.

I am a university/polytechnic student aged 17 years & below, can I participate in this summer program?

Yes. As long as you are a current student at any secondary or post-secondary educational institution, and you are aged 11-17 years, you are eligible to participate in this program.

How do I wire payment for the tour/camp fee of $3,450 CAD, directly to NCC Canada?

This can easily be done by obtaining a ‘Form A’ from any Nigerian Bank, & informing them that you want to wire payment for educational fees to a Canadian educational institution.

Will Plumville help my child/ward get their Canadian tourist visa, to enable them participate in the Safari Summer Tour?

Yes. Plumville will procure visas and handle local logistics for students & any parent/guardian who wish to accompany. We will provide counsel, guidance, and support for the entire visa application process. Our travel consultants are competent with vast experience in handling visa applications.

Can my child/ward visa application be refused? or is the visa automatic?

According to Canadian law, it is a criminal offence for any consultant to state that a visa is guaranteed. However, based on our expertise, your child/ward will have a 99% chance of securing their visa to Canada.

If my child's visa application is refused, what happens to the $3,450 that I wired to NCC?

In a case where your child/ward's visa is refused by the Canadian High Commission, NCC will refund the summer camp/tour fees, less $200 CAD administrative fee.

What will be the duration of visa that my child/ward will be issued?

It is at the discretion of the Canadian visa officer to determine the duration of the Canadian visa that will be issued. However, based on our prior experiences, your child/ward may be issued a visa with a validity of between 6 months to 5 years (subject to the expiry date of their international passport).

What are the documents that will be required for the visa application?

The primary supporting documents required for your child's Canada visitors/tourist visa application are:

International passport of the student (The passport must have a minimum of 2 blank visa pages & minimum 6 months validity).
Proof that your child/ward is currently a student (i.e. an official document confirming registration as a student at an academic institution in Nigeria).
Proof of funds: Parents/guardians must submit evidence of sufficient funds to cover the student's cost for the air/flight ticket & personal spending money for the program duration. Evidence includes: 3 months bank statement (for personal account) or  6 months bank statement (if business account is provided).
* A complete list of the visa application documents will be provided to parents/wards once the student is fully confirmed for the tour.

How will my child/ward travel to Canada?

Students for the Safari summer tour will travel as a group. They will be accompanied by an adult (chaperone) from Nigeria, who is conversant with Canada.

I will like to handle the travel arrangement for my child/ward. Is it possible?

We strongly recommend that student's travel as a group with Plumville's chaperone. However, if you will rather handle the travel arrangement for your child/ward, kindly let us know.

How will parents/guardians know that their children arrived safely in Canada?

Plumville's chaperone will notify parents/guardians immediately they arrive in Canada. Also, NCC will notify parents via email on the day their child arrive safely in Canada.

How will students keep their money and valuable safe?

Parents can give Plumville's chaperone money/valuables to keep for their children. Furthermore, a locked safe in the NCC's office will be available for students to keep valuables, if required. It should be noted that student's will be provided with their personal on-site accommodation, & it is constantly advised to students that they lock their dorm doors at all times.

Who keeps the student’s airline ticket & int'l passport?

Plumville's accompanying chaperone keeps the student’s airline ticket & international passport. Then, upon arrival in Canada, the chaperone submits their ticket & passport to NCC’s staff for it to be kept in a locked safe.

How much money should students bring to Canada for the program?

If students are not planning to make large purchases, $50-$75 CAD per week should be sufficient for personal spending money. Additional cash for emergencies may also be brought.

What happens is a student becomes ill or gets hurt?

NCC arranges medical/health insurance for all students for the program duration. In case of sickness, injury, or emergency, NCC staff will accompany the student to a nearby hospital to receive medical attention. It should be noted that Canada has one of the best healthcare in the world.

How is security organized at the residence/accommodation facility?

All students stay at NCC’s dormitories that are supervised by NCC's faculty & staff. Only authorized personnel & students are given keys to the on-site residence. Security personnel patrol NCC's facility at night.

How do students do their laundry?

NCC's staffs are provided with laundry cards that operate the laundry/washing machines in the dormitories. Students will be provided with laundry detergent & assisted by NCC's staff in doing their laundry on a regular basis.

What personal living items will be provided for students by NCC?

NCC will provide students with bedding & linens for their dormitory room that will be cleaned regularly. All students are expected to bring their own towels & toiletries (see packing list below). In the event that an item is lost or forgotten, NCC staff can help students purchase such item during their outings.

What items should my child park for the trip (i.e. Packing List)?

Recommended parking list:
Pens, pencils, notebooks.
All personal hygiene items (e.g. toothpaste, soap, towels, etc.).
Casual clothes & dress clothes for the banquet.
Swimming suit.
Jacket for cool evenings.
Athletic shoes.
Money for personal items & souvenirs.
Alarm clock.
Water bottle.
Sunglasses & sunscreen.

How can parents contact their child during the program?

Parents can contact their child through Plumville's accompanying chaperone via phone, email, or social media (e.g. whatsapp, facebook, etc.).
An alternative option is for the parent to contact the NCC office and leave a message for their child. NCC staff will deliver the message to the student during a break period in the program.

How can students call home?

Plumville's accompanying chaperone will have a Canadian phone number. Hence, students may use the chaperone's phone to call home.
Alternatively, NCC staff can help students call home during free time, by using one of the phones available in the lounges or a pay phone on campus. A long-distance calling card may be required for students to call home, & these cards can be purchased for ~$6 CAD.
